Edward (Ed) M. Durham
Ed joined the Sua Sponte Foundation (SSF) team in 2013 ago as a board member and was elected as president in April of 2013. He has worked for over 17 years in the world of finance. Ed is currently a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor at Raymond James and actively works with several foundations in various capacities. He is a graduate of Elon University in Elon, NC. In 2014, Ed was awarded the title of Honorary Ranger for his work with SSF. Ed moved to Savannah, GA, from St. Louis, MO, with his wife, Kerrie, and two children in 2009, and lives on Skidaway Island. In addition to his professional and nonprofit work, Ed coaches Little League baseball in the Savannah area.
Dave is a founding member of the SSF. He has over 13 years of experience in the medical device industry in sales, sales management, and market access/government affairs positions. He was as an infantry officer for over 8 years and proudly served in 1st Ranger Battalion from 1994–1997. He and his family reside in Greenville, SC.
Chuck Fountain is a founding board member of SSF. He is also a partner at Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah and has served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Alcohol Dealer’s Association since 1998, as well. Chuck served with 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment from 1988–1993. He and his family reside in Richmond Hill, GA.
Rich is a founding board member of SSF, as well as a Managing Partner at Dogwood Wealth Advisors where he does complimentary financial planning for Ranger families. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame. He served as a U.S. Army Infantryman from 1984–1987, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Maintenance Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Rich is an Honorary Member of the 1st Ranger Battalion. He lives in Savannah with his wife, Carmen, and daughters, Jesse and Jordan.
David H. Ermer
David was appointed President of the 1st Ranger Memorial board. He has 40 years of experience in investment markets, having served as Gen. Partner of Oppenheimer & Co. and Senior Vice President of Morgan Stanley and E.F. Hutton. He spent two years with the U.S. Army Security Agency and 14 months in Germany during the Cold War. He is an Honorary Member of the 1st Ranger Battalion and 75th Ranger Regiment, as well as the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne)—the Night Stalkers. David was married to C. Shirley Langan Ermer for 43 years before she passed away in 2005. He has three children—Mike, Maureen and Cathy—and five grandchildren. He resides in Savannah and enjoys golf, fishing, working out, and spending time with the Rangers and their families.
Shelia Bowen Dudley
Shelia is a Founding Board Member and Founding Member of SSF. She also serves on the school board for Memorial Day School. Shelia began working for the U.S. Department of Defense in 1981, with subsequent assignments at Directorate of Maintenance, Ft Knox, KY; Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) 2nd ROTC Region, Fort Knox, KY; Army Materiel Command Europe; and (for the past 28 years) the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, GA. She received an Associate Degree in 2005 from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, and attended Brewton Parker College.
Her awards, decorations and honors include: Honorary Gold Star Mother (75th Ranger Regiment); Honorary Ranger, 1stRanger Battalion; Honorary Ranger, 75th Ranger Regiment; Recipient of the Order of St. Maurice; 2014 Special Operations Command Department of the Army Civilian of the Year (SODAC) Civilian of the Year, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield; United States Army Special Operations Volunteer of the Year; Lifetime Member, United States Army Ranger Association, Inc.; Lifetime Member, 75th Ranger Regiment Association; numerous Commander’s Awards for Civilian Service; and, most recently, the Charles E Pimble 2015 SODAC Lifetime Achievement Award. Her work as Project Manager, 1st Ranger Battalion Memorial, was instrumental in this Memorial being awarded the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects’ Award of Excellence and placing in the top finalists in the National Chapter.
Shelia and Phillip W. Dudley (deceased), U.S. Army, have three children—Sam, Sarah and Phillip Jr.—and seven grandchildren. Shelia is also a member of the Gold Star Wives of America and is Liaison for the Gold Star Families of the 1st Ranger Battalion.
Tessa Warnock Dahlke
Tessa is the newest member of the SSF team. She joined the group in 2015, although she has created and supported many foundation fundraisers beginning in 2011. Tessa worked in information technology at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida for 34 years before retiring in 2007. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia. Tessa and her husband, Roger, are the Gold-Star parents of SSG Jason Dahlke, 1/75 A-Co Ranger KIA in Afghanistan in 2009. (Jason was Tessa’s stepson, whom she raised from age 7.) She volunteers for several military-related causes, enjoys reading, travel, craft glass-fusing, and collecting and researching Jax-area historic postcards. She and Roger live in Jacksonville, FL.
